Thank you for asking members of the military to give their opinions on trump illegally requiring American military to potentially fight against fellow Americans. I know most of them must feel awful.

Joy, I couldn't wait to comment on the most comprehensive coverage I have even seen on No Kings Day. You were my favorite, but I also love Jim A. and Don L. But I think you were the best ever. I love you take no prisoners questions and msnbc has lost the greatest talent they ever had. You have even put Rachel, whom I still love, to shame. If she didn't work for the corporate shills, she might be as good as you. As I commented on J. Acosta substack the only thing that possibly could have improved your coverage was Katies Phang. As a minority myself maybe I am prejudiced towards you and Katie, but you both are my favorites. To give the coverage justice I had to devote Sunday to watch the whole show. I need my thesaurus to convey the job you did that kept me spellbound. To use, amazing or outstanding is lowering my vocabulary to the felon's level. To watch/read every post or video requires me to go to the university library to spend the quality time reading your posts and watching videos.

But the biggest surpise of all were the podcasters from Oklahoma City. I had no idea OK had any one but myself in this god awful state. I live in Norman: home of the University from which I earned my Masters. To have that talent down the road from me. (Norman is a bedroom community of OKC. It is the only blue island in a sea of inbred rednecks. I would move but being married these decisions require joint decisions. We go to Boston or NYC to get a dose of clear progressive thinking.

Sorry for so long a post, but I cannot find the words to convey the degree of talent on Sat. SOOOO glad you left and now we have you all the time. Substack rules. Between you and Paul Krugman I have learned so Effing much. The other substacks are great, but in my Post to Dr. P. Krugman, I explained that my substack choices are analogous to going into a library and trying to read every book, because I learn so much. This country will survive because of the talent I saw Saturday/Sunday. God bless you all and God bless our country in this dark time.

You're definitely not alone in OK. I'm about as left of center as a person can get, especially under this thing we call a president. There are a lot of us! Every day I see Red. That's about as close to redneck as I get.

I am a female Navy Veteran. This is so important to me and other Veterans including my Dad, a Vietnam Vet; my husband, a Gulf War Veteran and many others in my family. We gave an oath to uphold the Constitution, not a person. Now, we are hearing rumblings about those of us who receive medical care with the VA, that they are proposing to not care for Democrats or single Veterans. This is especially insulting as this being given by someone who intentionally avoided serving his country.

Joy, as always, thanks. This was an excellent post. I drove for Uber and Lyft for a few years. I had every rank of the military in my car at one point or another, from a Rear Admiral and a 5-Star General to people on their way to boot camp. I always have questions and I peppered every single one of them with what I felt was 'need to know' dialog during tRump 1.0. In one of these conversations, I had a PFC for 30 minutes. And, as is my wont, I asked him where he thought the military would land if there was a showdown between tRump+minions and the city of Atlanta. He said, "You don't understand. Our sergeant comes into the room and says suit up. Then we haul ass to our transport and, in transit, we may get an order to jump out of the vehicle and fire at will. We may not know where we are or who we're shooting at. We're left in the dark about our mission or target." ... This response was very sobering. I can't say that I was alarmed or surprised; just more informed and aware. My question is, how aware of the political climate are rank and file military? To me, most of them are just kids. I'd think that they'd have to want to know. Are they politically indoctrinated by their officers? I'm not military, so I don't know how this works. These are make or break us kinda questions. And tRump+minions of 2.0 aren't leaving it to chance, if reports are accurate. It seems like tRump is handpicking his goons and thugs. The question still remains, though, "Where's the military in all of this?" There's no way they're going to be able to remain neutral, silent, on the sidelines. Circumstances won't let them.
