Informative and motivating. Thank you. As a spicy white person myself, I got to thinking that many (mostly) white social groups are superficial at best, especially by comparison. If white folks could get over the "welfare queen" Image planted at some level in many of our brains, perhaps we could put as much enthusiasm into helping people of all races get out of the worst poverty. Taxing the very rich more would be a start, but we really need to be talking to the poor more to plug the gaps in whatever they need.
Related experience: My partner and I talked to a homeless man a couple of days ago who seemed a little off mentally, but what I found interesting after he said something about losing his food stamps was the rant he went into next. He said migrants had taken away jobs and there were no longer day laborer oportunities for him. I didn't think anyone would hire him in the current state he was in, but if he had more help perhaps he would not be a Trump supporter.
