TJRS Latest: The NRA and right wing extremism
The gun lobby is cashing in on right wing extremism and violence. Literally.
In this conversation, Joy Reid and The Trace journalist Michael Spies delve into the alarming rise of right-wing extremism in America, focusing on the case of Ian Rogers, who plotted to attack democratic institutions. They explore the connections between MAGA ideology, the NRA's role in promoting replacement theory, and the historical context of violence in American politics. The discussion highlights the dangerous landscape of the gun market, the rise of armed communities, and the intertwining of military recruitment with right-wing ideology, ultimately questioning the sustainability of this trajectory in American society.

I watched this episode and it is frightening. Our cowboy culture and fascination of white boys for weapons has always been toxic for this country. As a kid i played cowboys and Indians, but I grew out of it when I kind of grew up. White christian nationalism gives them llicense to go back to their cowboy and Indian days when they could dehumanize a group of people who they feel are getting in the way of their white male privilege.
We must bring this temperature down across the board and we must do this everyday. Continue to sue this administration for crimes against humanity! Shut alligator Alcatraz down completely without question! There are law’s for civil and human rights!
