Great interview Joy. I was born and raised in Nashville until I moved to Kentucky five years ago. Nashville and Memphis were always a blue oasis in a deep red state. Now you have Andy Oagles and Marsha Blackburn coming after Mayor Freddie O'Connell become he criticized ICE for a targeted raid a couple of weeks ago. Freddie is progressive politically which shows you Nashville is not a conservative city. The red rural counties are determined to punish Nashville as a result. (Texas beware because Tennessee wants to claim most favored MAGA status) The Tennessee legislature is corrupt as hell and do a piss poor job of hiding their racist attitudes. (I'm a 74 year old white man myself). Memphis has always been treated like second class citizens, probably because it is a majority black town. The Republicans in Tennessee are taking the state I grew up in and loved backwards.
