Not surprised, but devastated. Their reporting and refusal to bend the knee has been honorable and a pleasure to watch. Same with CBS Sunday Morning. Hopefully they won't muzzle that show too. When the news of his resignation came out, it was very clear we are getting deeper into state run media. It is indeed terrifying.

That was very affecting Joy. I knew a lot of that just from diving into the some of the pieces you referenced, however, the contextual perspective you gave it resonated even more so. It sickens me and makes me that much more determined to fight the power.

On a side note, Skydance is the producer on the next installment of the Tom Cruise vehicle "Mission Impossible" franchise. I feel like there's an opportunity to chip away at the success of that film, if we are so inclined. Shari Redstone may feel invincible under the Trump regime and with her billions of dollars, but she has an Achilles heel, $$$$.

The kowtowing of varied outlets – universities, law firms, and media – to Trump is a sad commentary on what is happening to the under attack First Amendment. Clearly Trump and Co. are making an effort to control how we perceive information by restricting facts and obfuscating with rapid-fire lies. As I’ve said, multiple times over the past few weeks, we, the citizens, must stand up at protests, and via phone calls and letters detailing our opposition.

Edward R Murrow was my first look at real journalism. When he pushed against McCarhy and their witch hunt for socialists and or communists with the house un-america committee hearings, I felt that we had a real free press and we would always get truth from our media. Walter Cronkite, Dan Rather and so many others just gave us real unadulterated news. That changed when news became just more entertainment. So,thank you Ronald Regan for eliminating the "Fairness Dictrine" which shamed our media into some level of fact checking, Talk, radio shock jocks like Rush Limbaugh could now spew all the poison they wanted without anyone stopping them. Then we thank Bill Clinton for allowing Rupert Murdough to have a free hand to set up a right wing propaganda channel that has dominated ratings since the mid 90s. Brainwashing is a real thing and the Right Wing media has perfected it.

“I remember walking into Trump Tower when it was still brand new, on one of my lunch breaks, and thinking it was the tackiest, gold-gilded thing I had ever seen.” I had that same feeling when I was there in ‘89 visiting my friend in Edison NJ. We took the subway in and walked around NYC. She took me to Trump Tower. It was the ugliest thing I had ever seen…

These networks are scared of the wrong group of people. Are there enough wealthy oligarchs to support them and watch the garbage they broadcast? I will never ever turn on network television again.

Joy, you are the high IQ version of Forrest Gump. (FYI, he is one of my cultural heroes. He experienced life from a bird's eye view during one of the most culturally relevant periods of our lifetime.) Your tangential and sometimes direct connections to people, places and things magnifies your cred. I so adore you.

Fantastic story Joy, Thank you. Mr. Ed Bradley was my man❤️. I loved me some Ed Bradley. After he departed, I lost interest & stopped watching altogether. Lastly, I want to add that maybe, just maybe, one day my “middle class brain” will understand why folks fear President Cheeto. For me it is truly mind boggling. Maybe if I were a millionaire my brain could somehow understand this phenomenon. Is it me or do rich folks fear him the most? They would lick his ass if it were on fire. Truly fascinating.

I’m very sorry to hear this is happening. The last few shows have been exceptionally good, and several of the segments disturbing and heartbreaking. I guess it’s no surprise that Trump would go after 60 Minutes in whatever way he can. He certainly seems to love litigation. And the truth seems particularly not a friend to Mr. Trump.

I recommend that everyone who is a believer in honest journalism and wants to get an understanding of how dishonest journalism rots the brain, should watch a documentary about how so much of America became brainwashed. www.thebrainwashingofmydad.com

Joy iReid is a truly honest journalist.
