An Evening Reid: the fake Libertarian and the occupation of Los Angeles
Sure, we're descending into fascism, but at least Rand Paul and his grandkids can attend the White House picnic
You’d think Rand Paul would care about more than picnics. He’s supposedly a Libertarian (and apparently a dentist, though his certification is … unique.) Which means that in theory, the idea of the federal government militarily occupying a city in this supposed union of equal and sovereign states would concern him. Because to be clear, that’s exactly what’s happening to Los Angeles, California with the Trump regime in charge.

But Rand? Apparently not super concerned. Instead, the stalwart Senator from Kentucky chose to put his foot down on the real crisis facing our nation: his disinvitation from White House picnic.
Oh, the humanity… well thankfully, Dictator Don has fixed this unacceptable snafu, and will indeed permit Rand and his grandbaby to picnic at the White House, to which the Senator responded with the kind of insipid groveling required of every Republican in this era:
Whew! Glad that’s cleared up. The republic may survive after all!
Meanwhile, in the world of actually useful politicians, Democratic California Senator Alex Padilla, the senior Senator from that state, held a press conference today to discuss being man-handled, handcuffed, and physically ejected from a Kristi Noem press conference at the Los Angeles federal building today.
To be clear, the city of Los Angeles in the State of California is currently under military occupation. Just listen to the way the continually costumed puppy killer talked about the regime’s plans to remain in the state over the objection of the actual commander in chief of the California national guard: Governor Gavin Newsom, and the mayor of Los Angeles, Karen Bass, just before Senator Padilla was ejected:
In case you missed that, here’s the quote:
“The Department of Homeland Security and the officers and the agencies and the departments and the military people that are working on this operation will continue to sustain and increase our operations in this city. We are not going away. We are staying here to liberate the city from the Socialist and the burdensome leadership that this governor and that this mayor have placed on this country and what they have tried to insert into this city. So I want to say thank you to every single person that has been able to do this. Also, I want to talk specifically to the rioters and to the politicians in Los Angeles.” — unquote.
In other words, regime change. Can you imagine the outrage if a Democratic presidential administration vowed to militarily occupy a red state until the governor and select city mayors were removed?
But for maga, this is exactly what they voted for. The voted for exactly this kind of fascism, because they know that it is the only way that people like them can get control of great cities like Los Angeles, or great venues like the Kennedy Center. They have to force their way in. They have to impose themselves. Or they have to fool millions of people by dangling the promise of economic gain, so that they can get in power and impose the cruel, awful, racist, insane things they alone believe in, on the rest of us.
Here’s Governor Newsome responding to the regime’s additional threats, including to arrest him.
Now that they have normalized man-handling, detaining and arresting members of congress, judges, union leaders and more, while leaving no place safe for brown people to work, walk, eat, shop or go to school, and openly declaring Los Angeles as military occupied territory for as long as the regime desires, our fascist, Project 2025 kakistocrat cabal is moving on to the American people; with Trump vowing to use “heavy force” against anyone who would dare disrupt the goose-stepping, Kim Jong Un-style birthday parade he is throwing himself for his birthday on Saturday. Here’s the quote:
"If there’s any protester that wants to come out, they will be met with very big force," Trump said. "I haven’t even heard about a protest, but you know, this is people that hate our country, but they will be met with very heavy force."
And here’s an NBC News package on the parade, which even sycophant Rand claims to oppose (putting on his Libertarian hat, of course.) Though I doubt it will cool his enthusiasm for that picnic.
“If you want a picture of the future, imagine a boot stamping on a human face—for ever.”
