You are correct. The media landscape is change before our very eyes. They didn’t like the diversity and wokeness. So now, they are going to ensure there is white Christian nationalist approved content. It more crucial than ever to support independent media. Thanks Joy. Love your voice of truth!

Thank you for writing and publishing this essay. I learned about the cancellation of The Residence here. I enjoyed the character of Cordelia Cupp very much. It was one of the more unusual characters on TV, not only because she was Black and a She; but because Cordelia was not defined by husband (was she possibly asexual?) or children — only by her detective career and her birdwatching hobby. If the character was Asperger, she wasn’t defined by that, either. Female lead characters are almost always defined by the perceptions of others. This one was not, and I am going to miss Detective Cupp.

Maybe Netflix will pick up this show. I loved The Residence as well and the quirky Cordelia.

After your comment that "...conservatives often grouse that “their” comedians and actors get fewer roles and opportunities in socially liberal Hollywood, once their social and political views are known." I clicked on the link you provided. I noticed a couple of things. Many of those on the list are boomers (I'm 74), or near boomers, many have since passed away, and I did not recognize many of the names listed. One thing MAGAs have in common is a complete and total inability to accept responsibility for their actions, demonstrating their immaturity.

McCarthyism/Trumpism is alive and thriving in fear. I read about McCarthyism, but didn't think I would see it in my lifetime. The paranoid "manosphere" is here, but don't forget, women outlive these testosterone-obsessed immature vile creatures.

When the rule of law no longer serves the people, then it ceases to be a principled tool of governance that the people should or will respect and adhere to. Nor, ultimately, can it be adhered to. Nature, human and otherwise, will naturally reject it and, because it's so unnatural, it becomes defunct by default. Just because POTUS, SCOTUS and the violent forces of ICE says or signs a piece of paper declaring a lie or an unjust whim a law ... well, that's oxymoronic. They may succeed for a short time, but everyone and everything will rise up in rejection of it. It's like trying to infuse the very air with methane gas and calling it pure and breathable.
