A Daily Reid - Maga Republicans to non-billionaire Americans: 'drop dead'
The party of the super rich has long needed the right clown to fool mainly white Americans into giving up the 20th century. They found him in Donald Trump.
In an autocracy, the autocrat generally gets really rich; a select few of his minions do too, while the rest — including those who love the autocrat the most — are generally left to founder and die. And so it is with the American autocracy created by Donald Trump.
Over the weekend, we saw the most devastating consequences of Magaism, whose prime directives are to steal healthcare and aid from the poor, to give gargantuan tax cuts to the rich. And while few of Trump’s 80 million voters likely regret their choice, even as this country descends into a police state, many of them will now face the very real possibility of dying for their savior.
Dateline, Texas.
Devastating floods over the weekend triggered deadly floods that have washed away homes, livelihoods, and most tragically, children:
And here, oh Texas, is a panoply of your Republican leadership…
Oh, for the love of God, shut up, Ted Cruz…
Welcome to the very deadliest #magaconsequences.
Texas voted overwhelmingly for Donald Trump in 2024 and somewhat more narrowly to re-elect Chairman Cruz.
And Texas voters — despite being in a state without a white majority — have routinely voted to install Republican representation from the governor’s mansion to the right wing school board. So in essence, this laissez faire government, that isn’t necessarily here for them when Texans are in need, is what the people in that state have voted for and embraced. It’s the kind of government you want, when your main concern about government is that it not tax you much and that it not even think about restricting your purchase of massive amounts of guns. And so sadly, this non-government is the government you get.
With such utterly tragic consequences.
And we’re now going to find out what it’s like when every state is forced to become Texas. And Florida. And Arkansas. And Tennessee. And Louisiana. And Mississippi. And every other red state that Bluemerica wouldn’t live in if you paid most of them to do so.
Texas was living under Project 2025 before Project 2025 was a thing. Their government is big on prayer in school. Not so much on history or books that actually say something about history. And not too keen on taxes, spending, or helping the least of these. And so… camp kids die and all Ted Cruz has for their family are the same thoughts and prayers Republicans routinely offer mass shooting victims. Thoughts and m—f—n prayers.
Also your periodic reminder that Trump’s pick to head FEMA, had no idea that there was such a thing as “hurricane season” and his king is dead set on winding down FEMA and eliminating it after the 2025 hurricane season, for which even right wing media admits FEMA is not ready. But not before handing out cash to a state that voted obediently for Republicans — the opposite of what the regime did for North Carolina.
Governor Greg Abbott proudly announced that FEMA assistance would be immediately available to residents of Kerr County, which voted overwhelmingly for Trump last November. Cause you’ve got to keep the people in the faith, even as you leave them to drown and die.
Still, Trump refuses to take responsibility for the doge slashing that crippled the National Weather Service and NOAA. (Though you should NOT blame NWS for the Texas mess. Wired reports that even in their doge-diminished capacity, they did their job.)
Meanwhile, a prescient Florida weatherman tried to warn y’all, earlier this year…
But to get those precious tax cuts, some Americans are just gonna have to die.
Some from floods and other natural disasters.
Some from losing their access to healthcare.
Some from the rampant measles.
And perhaps some from despair as his tariffs and mass deportation schemes destroy their businesses.
At least they’ll be dying for their Lord and Savior — though as I’ve said before, when you die for your Savior, that’s a cult. A proper religion is when your Savior dies for you.
So sickening when adults cannot own their mistakes. To all those MAGAS who follow the Jim Jones of today, Mr. Orange Anus, just so ya know.....the lives of all those who died, and in particular any of the children who died in the flood are on your head....own it!
I think the general Republican attitude was best expressed by Senator Joni Ernst: "Well, we are all going to die." With that attitude, why bother with public measures to avoid catastrophes? Just pray that God exempts you and accepts the deceased into heaven.
